As in all industries, intense competition will be fostered along the growth of the companies and gaining an understanding of patent portfolio development and management are conducive to advancing the technological and commercialisation progress. To encourage local companies and inventors to capitalise on their intellectual work through patent registration, the HKSAR Government has launched the Patent Application Grant (PAG) funding scheme, providing each eligible company or inventor with a subsidy of up to HK$250,000 in applying for patents. Meanwhile, the Government has introduced the original grant patent (OGP) system and new initiatives since 2019 to provide more flexible ways for industries to protect their inventions and to advance the development of Hong Kong as a regional innovation hub.
The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) and the Hong Kong Brand Development Council (BDC) hereby will co-organised a hybrid seminar, inviting representatives of the implementation agent of PAG funding scheme, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, to explain the application procedures of this fund and share the benefits of having strong patent protection and the current patenting system. One-on-one consultations to address participants' inquiries on PAG funding scheme will also be provided on the event day.
